Go to:  http:// www. nysparks.state.ny.us/shpo

To identify  Archaeologically Sensitive Areas

Click on:

     1.      Online Resources, menu to left, 8th menu item down

     2.      Select GIS, map of NYS bottom of page

     3.      Agree twice – These screens provide directions on the how site should be used.

     4.      Zoom to Location, menu upper right hand corner. This will allow you to zoom by 

              municipality or USGS quad name. 

     5.      Click on Archaeology Sensitive Area and Background Maps, lower right, to turn

              these data levels on

    

     6.      Hit Refresh*

    

      7.      You may continue to zoom or pan until you reach the area of concern.  Additional

               controls are in the drop down box at top right of map

*If your screen is blank, click zoom out until image appears.
