funk foundation grants

The Robert E. Funk Memorial Archaeology Foundation, under the auspices of the New York State Museum Institute, a private non-profit charitable organization, receives monetary contributions in memory of Bob Funk. The Funk Foundation administers a fund for support of archaeological research in New York State, particularly on the prehistoric and contact periods yet not limited to this time span.

Awards of up to $2,000 are available for technical analysis, travel, equipment, publication, or other research expenses.   The categories of applicants are: professional, avocational, and student.  

The Foundation is sponsored by the New York State Museum Institute, a private non-profit partner of the New York State Museum. The Foundation is supported by private contributions and governed by a council that serves in a voluntary capacity. Donations are tax deductible.

To donate funds to the Funk Foundation:

Checks should be made out to the New York State Museum Institute and be accompanied by a form, letter, memo, or other indication that the donation is for the Funk Foundation. Donations are be placed in a restricted account that will be accessible only to the Foundation board. The Institute will charge a nominal handling fee and a small amount will go to a website to provide information on the foundation. Please send checks to:
